Before the COVID-19 worldwide pandemic, the MSP was consistently receiving well over thirty million visitors yearly. And with most airports around the world still recovering their previous statistics, the MSP now receives nearly as much passengers a year as it used to.

Monthly, more than 20k flights take to the air from one of the runways of the MSP, on board over 75 different airlines.

These airlines are many, and they operate nearly 700 different routes. These airlines give the visitors of the MSP and the people of the region great options to travel domestically and abroad.

As the MSP is visited by over a million passengers monthly, the airport is considered a very important one regionally and internationally. Due to that, more than one airline company consider the MSP as their hub, and they are:

  • Delta Air Lines
  • Sun Country Airlines
  • Bemidji Airlines

Delta takes a large piece of the pie at the MSP, as this airline alone brings in over 15 million passengers yearly! This is miles ahead of any other major airline at the airport, with second place being SkyWest Airlines, bringing in an average of 3 to 4 million passengers a year.

The airlines that fly out of Minneapolis, and similarly, the airlines into MSP Airport, depart from or land at one of two terminals.

Generally speaking, both terminals handle both domestic and international flights. The first terminal is larger than its neighboring terminal, and it thus has more airlines operating at its grounds.

Additionally, the airlines that operate the most routes at the MSP are usually American airlines, with the KLM Royal Dutch Airlines and the Air France being the only non-American airlines to make it to the list of top ten airlines with the most routes from the MSP.
